Foreword

This book has been put together to guide the junior doctor through an Otolaryngology (ENT) rotation from the referrals one will see to the practical procedures that are carried out on a routine basis. Many departments will have a different way of managing particular conditions, but this book will give the user a framework to deliver good quality clinical care and develop the skills with confidence, wherever the trainee is working. None of the sections that follow assume prior advanced levels of medical or surgical knowledge, just the basic building blocks that one will have picked up from medical school and foundation training. All the information has been presented in an easy to digest fashion that makes this an ideal companion to the on-call bag and clinic rooms, to use as a reference guide on managing the hugely varied conditions that we deal with in Otolaryngology.
